Darkness Reveals the Truth Within

Now too old to feel, too old to change

Darkness brings
the numbing fear.
His truth revealed
by black shadows.
Safe, so safe in the light.
Days spent hiding
from himself.
Take love,
but never give,
and you are never hurt.
Be a taker, never a giver
and you can have it all.
A man ruled by his
own rules to stay
alive, but never live.
Believe in nothing
he smiles, and you
are never disappointed.
You get older,
you can’t even lie
to yourself.
The night teaches
us the lessons of life.
You have no hope
because you never
felt hopeless, you
never tried so you
never felt anything.
You have never
lived because you
have never been
kissed by failure.
So there you sit,
in the corner,
tears of pain,
the loneliest man
alive, if alive is
what you call it,
your family close,
but you taught them
not to love you…
and that makes
them so happy.
And you wait…
the nights longer,
seeds of fear now
blossoming in your
rambling mind.
You created a life
of nothingness,
and you realize,
now too old, so old,
now too far gone,
the nothing is you.
