Dreed, I have been gathering lyrics from those old days just to see how they really did write and how good I think it is now. I have everything the Beatles, Paul Simon, Elton John and Dylan have written and I look at the modern song writers, such as Colbie Caillet, to see what they are doing. Sometimes a well written line inspires me in my own stuff. I also have gotten all of Garth’s words and many of his early songs were poems that could have stood alone..I listen to everything, but you, sometimes the words of the elders were maybe the best. If you want a strange treat, get the Gershwin lyrics and others from that era. The rhyming was powerful.
