HI Kerstin, today I started with about five Billy Collins poems, then on to some Dorianne Laux, and finally a few short chapters from Gordon Livingston's Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart. Yesterday, however, was a full 30 minutes in Mary Oliver's Upstream. I read regular stuff in the evening. Answering your question directly, if I am looking for inspiration, I read several different poets, but if I am reading for understanding and learning, I might read just one for 30 minutes. The I write for 30. Sometimes, if the writing spirit is within me, I might go an hour, but always primed by the 30 minute read. I do it before emails, messages, my work calls or anything else. I think the discipline helps too. Thanks my friend. T
