HI Shereen, If I understand your question correctly, then yes, to me, the characters you create have to have some life in them, flaws and all. We use our imagination to create a character that never before existed, but to me the reader, he or she has to come to life, have some depth, some connection to feelings and issues I understand. The fiction I put down early always has shallow characters, easily predictable, and faint images of what someone might be like in the real world. The missing ingredient is an understanding of this character as to how he or she might fit into the real world. Thoughtful question Shereen, thank you. Thom
