Hi Steve, great observation and thought. I still try and support the local bookshops by buying a few books per week. When I stand in someplace like Barnes and Nobles, one of our biggest chains here, or Waterstones in the UK, I see a few of the bigger names and their latest releases and then dozens of new books, maybe the first or second, by the second tier of writers. all that work, all that passion, you get your first novel out and maybe make enough to keep writing long enough to get another project done, but never enough to feed a family or save much. You may get lucky and break out, or you may quietly turn out a book every year or so that keeps you at least fed.

Your observations here Steve or solid. Master some other aspect of writing or editing to make money, then live the dream and write the novel you always wanted sitting in your underwear at five in the morning.

Thanks Steve. T
