HI Vern, we finally made peace in his later years. His wife, about twenty years younger than him, died young of cancer leaving him with two kids under six. He finally realized he needed my brother and I in his life. He was a changed man in his last decade because I don’t think he had much of a choice. For whatever reason, he died loved. I could have written most of what you said here Vern, and feel every word, but all I can tell you is letting go and forgiving is a good think to heal your own soul.
