Hi Zachary, I was teaching, prior to this year, about 20–30 workshops per year for too many decades, all full of people of all ages but mostly those in the under 35 group. I have also done about thirty years of personal business coaching. One of the most common questions I get, especially after a few glasses of wine, is “what is my purpose?” People agonize over this question, teachers try and teach it and preachers scream their answers to the chyrch. I think the answer is simple. You are born to change lives. You are here to leave the world around you a little better than you found it. You are here to help a troubled friend find her way. You are here to make your parents’ later years less of burden. You are here to use your talent to create something that might linger after you are gone. There is no “just me” time in this life. You need people to be you and yes, hiding would be more peaceful, but what at what expense? Taking what you need from life from others, such as spouses and bosses and children, or living a life where you rise to be the best human you can be, rise to your gifts, and we all have gifts, and maybe change your little slice of the world on the way out the door. You were born Zachary to change the world. We all are. I refuse to hide from that responsibility, as illustrated from this too long note. Thanks for the read my friend, always appreciated.
