Neighborhood hardware store near my house.
I wander lost looking for picture hooks.
In the back corner I find an aisle I haven’t tried.
There is a display on the end, dusty, forgotten.

A giant rack of tiny spray bottles.
Just what I didn’t know I needed.
Pocket size misters with blue labels.
The ultimate pest control it says.
Personal sprayers of… Don’t Give A Damn.

I bought them all, hoping the ads are true.
Walked into the grocery store on my way home.
A nasty man, big belly, small brain, bush beard,
wearing a leather vest and American flag tee shirt.
Ranting and drooling over politics at the door.
Poof, one spray and he disappears from my sight.
The world now a better place.

The lady in front of me at the coffee shop.
The place crowded, understaffed as always.
She lets loose a rant of vitriolic spit.
The quiet barista was slow with her order.
I sneak up behind, a quick whisp of my spray.
The woman turns and walks away…
